Waiting for Superman
Director David Guggenheim takes us on a tour of the failing U.S. public educational system. Resistant to change, many schools are merely "drop out factories" where promising children enter, but few are able to overcome the systemic barriers to learning that are erected by self-serving adults. Guggenheim shows us the promise of a better education, but for now it is limited to those lucky enough to win a coveted seat through a public lottery. This film contains great sermon illustrations concerning hopelessness, our obligation to our children, and the dangers of over-confidence.
Movie's Sermon General's Warning:
Waiting for Superman contains some mild profanity and some smoking.
