Scene Setup
Aron Ralston, an experienced mountaineer, is hiking in a shallow canyon in Utah. Working his way down a narrow passage, Aron picks his way over the small boulders that are wedged between the walls of the canyon. One of them comes loose, and Aron falls. When both he and the rock come to rest, Aron is standing at the bottom of the canyon, but his arm is pinned against the wall of the canyon by the massive rock.

Aron Ralston was an avid hiker and mountaineer, so rugged that he did not think it important to tell anyone where he was going when he headed off to do some canyoneering in Utah. But what should have been a walk in the park for Aron turned into a nightmare when a boulder falls, pinning Aron's arm against the narrow canyon wall. With food running out, limited water, no help coming, and no way to move the boulder, Aron must determine how much he is willing to sacrifice in order to live. Based on a true story, 127 Hours contains great sermon illustrations on pride and sacrifice.
