The Big Idea:
Would you speak for the life of another?

Scene Setup:
Eduardo Verįstegui, the star of the film, Bella, describes how, in preparing for his role in a fiction film, he was able to use his gifts to help a real couple to choose life.

Application:
Eduardo has a lot going for him. He is an accomplished model, singer, and an award-winning actor. His face is known to millions across the globe. But when he wanted to determine what was "the most noble thing" he had ever done, it was not his commercial achievements that came to mind. Instead, it was a forty-five minute conversation with a young Mexican couple outside of an abortion clinic, that resulted in that couple, months later, giving birth to a son.

You will notice that he did not say it was easy. In fact, he was terrified. But when an opportunity presented itself to him, he responded with an obedient heart, demonstrated real love for this couple, and trusted God for the outcome. It was a good call.

Eduardo has a lot going for him, but in talking to other people who believe they are without hope, you possess the same necessary qualities: a voice to speak, and hands to help. It is my prayer that you also possess an obedient heart.

When we look back upon our lives on this planet, all of the things that the world tells us to value -- money, power, prestige -- ultimately will mean nothing. Those acts that do not come with monetary strings attached are the ones that will count in the balance sheet of eternity. The most important things on this planet are not earned. They're a gift.

We celebrate the gift of life most meaningfully when we communicate its importance to others. Life Sunday can be every Sunday. It can be every day of the rest of your life. As long as you are willing to act in obedience to God and reach out to others and say, with your voice, with your actions, with your life, that their lives, and the lives of their unborn children, are important to God, and they are important to you. God commands us to stand in the gap for those who are being led down the path to death. Will you speak up?
