When Alvin goes overboard at a concert, the Chipmunks' band manager and parental figure Dave winds up in the hospital. So the Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are sent to live with Dave's slacker brother Toby, who places the brothers in school. But it doesn't take long for Alvin to get sucked into the clique life, seeking popularity. His quest for personal adulation puts the band in jeopardy, and now they have real competition, in the form of the Chipettes.
