Sermon Illustrations from Last Samurai, The (2003)

Captain Nathan Algren, a decorated veteran of the American Civil War and noted Indian fighter, is commissioned to go to Japan to help modernize the Japanese army. The goal is to help them defeat insugent Samurai warriors. Captured in the heat of battle, Algren is taken prisoner to live among his Samurai enemies. His experiences among them change him, and his views on life and honor, forever.
