Sermon Illustrations from The Tooth Fairy (2010)

Derek Thompson was once an NHL hockey player, but when an accident blew out his shoulder he was demoted to the minors, where he has become a crowd favorite for his violent antics on the ice. All appears well, but Derek's secret is that he cannot make it back to the majors because he no longer believes in himself. But when he steals the tooth-fairy money from under the pillow of Tess, the daughter of his girlfriend, Carly, and tries to tell her that there is no such thing as the tooth fairy, he has finally crossed the line. He gets a summons from the head fairy and is required to serve a stint as a tooth fairy. This is a high-concept film that is about belief -- in mythical things as well as in oneself -- that contains some elements for good discussion with young people.

Movie's Sermon General's Warning:
The Tooth Fairy contains some hockey violence and mild language.

Rating: PG      Genre: Comedy

FilmTalk Card - Should we do things our way or God's way?

The Tooth Fairy can stimulate discussions about doing hard things, about doing things God's way, and why it is important to be active in doing what God wants us to do. The Tooth Fairy can also inspire talk about dealing with setbacks, and why the object of our belief is so important to God.
